Maven exits Applied Language Solutions
Maven Capital Partners, manager of the Capital for Enterprise Fund A (CfE Fund), has realised its ТЃ1.5m mezzanine investment in Applied Language Solutions (ALS) following its sale to the Capita Group.
The exit reaped an initial return of 40% on the fund's investment.
Previous funding
Maven injected a total of £1.5m from CfE Fund in two equal tranches during 2010 to support ALS's global growth plans, including increasing its sales presence in existing markets and accelerating its expansion into South America and Asia.
Company
ALS is a UK-based language service provider. The company, which provides translation, proof reading and interpreting services, was established in 2003. ALS generated just over £10.6m in global sales in 2010 through its international network of offices which are based in the UK, the US, Guatemala, Spain, France, Germany and Bulgaria.
The company employs approximately 130 staff and has access to more than 17,500 in-country linguists globally, covering more than 150 different languages. It offers services to both the public and the private sector, including customers such as Google, Caterpillar and Vodafone.

Ryan Bevington and Jonty Hall, both from Maven, worked on the deal. Gavin Wheeldon is the chief executive and founder of ALS.
