Renatus buys Boojum in maiden deal
Renatus Capital Partners has acquired Ireland-based Mexican restaurant chain Boojum in a deal worth тЌ3m.
The deal saw Renatus team up with brothers David Maxwell and former Ulster rugby player Andrew Maxwell to complete the private equity firm's first deal.
Following the transaction, the Maxwell brothers will team up with management to expand the business. David Maxwell has previously operated restaurants in Arizona.
Renatus was established in 2014 and focuses on investing in Irish mid-market businesses.
Company
Founded in 2007, Boojum operates Mexican "fast-casual" restaurants in Dublin, Belfast and Galway. Key dishes include burritos, tacos and salads.
The company is the largest Mexican restaurant chain in Ireland with a total of five outlets.
People
Boojum was founded by John and Karen Blisard. Mark Flood and Brendan Traynor co-founded Renatus.
