Xmos raises $26.2m in series-D
Amadeus Capital Partners, DFJ Esprit and Foundation Capital have participated in a $26.2m funding round for British semiconductor company Xmos.
The latest round also saw commitments by strategic investors, including Huawei, US-based Xilinx and Bosch's venture capital arm. Robert Bosch Venture Capital's Dr Hongquan Jiang will join the Xmos board as part of the investment.
The series-E investment round comes six months after the company raised $14m from the same GPs and some smaller investors.
Xmos plans to use the fresh funding to further improve its market position in multicore technology for embedded applications by expanding customer support and accelerating new product development.
Amadeus is invested in Xmos via its £10m Amadeus & Angels Seed Fund and its Amadeus III fund, which closed above target on £160m in March 2007.
Previous funding
Xmos received seed funding estimated to be around $1.2m in 2006 from Amadeus and DFJ Esprit.
It was topped up with an additional $16m in its series-A funding round the following September, which included Foundation Capital.
It also raised $16m in December 2013 from the GP trio, with co-investment from some smaller investors.

Bristol-based Xmos produces a range of multicore microcontrollers marketed as a way of simplifying the design of complex embedded systems for engineers.
The business span out from Bristol University in 2005. It employs 65 people globally and has its headquarters in Bristol, as well as a second office in India.
Customers typically operate in the consumer, audio, industrial and automotive industries.

Nigel Toon is president and CEO of Xmos, while Foundation partner William Elmore sits on the company's board of directors as chairman.
Amadeus co-founder Hermann Hauser is on the board as a non-executive director, alongside Amadeus's early-stage funds managing partner, Alex van Someren, who holds an observer position.
DFJ Esprit venture partner Alan Duncan also sits on the board of directors. They will all be joined by Dr Hongquan Jiang from Robert Bosch Venture Capital.
