
Kernel invests in Certification Europe
Kernel Capital has injected €400,000 into Certification Europe, an Ireland-based management standards and inspection services company.
The firm invested via its Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund, a €32m vehicle launched by Bank of Ireland in November 2009 and managed by Kernel.
Certification Europe will use the fresh capital to expand into new markets beyond the 16 in which it currently operates. The company also plans on hiring 15 new staff in 2015.
Most recently, Kernel invested €1.25m in the series-A round for DisplayNote Technologies, a Belfast-based developer of online interactive presentation software.

Founded in 1999, Certification Europe is headquartered in Dublin with additional offices in Italy, Turkey, Japan and the UK.
The company is an accredited certification body that provides international standard for organisation (ISO) certification for management standards. It currently certifies 1,000 organisations across 16 countries.
Certification Europe claims to perform more than 8,000 assessments per year. Clients include BT, Microsoft and KPMG. The company currently employs 50 staff.
