Finance Wales backs Safety Technology
Finance Wales has provided Monmouthshire-based safety specialist Safety Technology with a six-figure loan.
The backing from Finance Wales will enable Safety Technology to further expand globally and to set up a new offshore training facility in the North East. Funds were drawn from the £150m Wales Jeremie Fund.
The new training facility will focus on safety requirements for working on offshore wind turbines, including safe vessel transfer as well as rescue and evacuation of technicians. The company has further plans for facilities in Great Yarmouth, intending to capitalise on the planned construction of wind farms off the east coast.
Company
Established in 2002, Monmouthshire-based Safety Technology started out as a safety specialist supplying the utilities and telecoms sectors with safety equipment for working at heights. The company branched out into safety training for the wind energy sector in 2009.
It has since established a joint venture with a Spanish operation and maintenance company and a partnership with Grand Rapids Community College in the US. The company now delivers safety training and equipment to businesses such as Vestas, Gamesa, Dong Energy, RWE N Power, Alstom and Suzlon.
