Bridgepoint's Azzurri Group buys Coco di Mama
Azzurri, a restaurants group owned by Bridgepoint that notably comprises the Ask Italian and Zizzi brands, has acquired Italian quick service chain Coco di Mama.
The bolt-on will see Azzurri strengthen its position in the Italian casual dining market; while Ask and Zizzi focus on traditional sit-down meals, Coco di Mama specialises in faster options for the lunchtime crowd such as fresh pasta, salads and sandwiches.
Bridgepoint bought Ask Italian and Zizzi from Cinven in a £250m deal at the end of 2014, regrouping the businesses in the Azzurri newco.
Company
Established in 2011 , Coco di Mama operates six London stores that specialise in fresh Italian food served on a quick service model, focusing particularly on lunchtime customers.
Ask Italian and Zizzi currently operate a joint 240 restaurants across the UK.
People
Jeremy Sanders and Daniel Land are co-founders of Coco di Mama.
