Partners Group appoints David Layton as co-CEO
Asset manager Partners Group has appointed partner and head of private equity David Layton as its new co-CEO, effective from January 2019.
Layton will join André Frei, who has been co-CEO since 2013, and replace current co-CEO Christoph Rubeli. The latter will also step down from the firm's executive committee and global executive board by the end of 2018, although he will remain a partner. He spent the past five years as co-CEO.
Rubeli stated that Layton would be able to focus on the investment side of the business, while fellow co-CEO Frei focuses on clients and related portfolio management activities.
Layton joined Partners Group in 2005. Most recently working as global head of private equity, he was previously head of PE for the Americas and notably moved to Denver in 2016 to establish the firm's new headquarters in the region. He is a member of the firm's executive committee and global executive board, as well as its global investment committee.
Rubeli has spent two decades at Partners Group, having joined in 1998 from UBS. He notably established the firm's footprint in Asia and was head of the Singapore office for several years.
