Blackstone buys stake in BC Partners
Blackstone Group has acquired a minority stake in the general partner vehicle of large-cap private equity investor BC Partners.
Blackstone made the investment through Strategic Capital Group, which specialises in GP stake investments.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but press reports put the value of the deal at around €500m for a 10-15% holding.
BC said in a statement that the fresh capital would be used to expand the business, with particular focus on real estate and private credit.
The firm is understood to be gearing up to launch its 11th buyout fund, after holding a final close on €7m for BC European Capital X, after a two-year fundraising period.
Evercore acted as financial adviser to BC Partners, with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett providing legal counsel. Kirkland & Ellis served as legal counsel to Blackstone.
