
Hg bolsters team with promotions and new hires
Software investor Hg Capital has made a series of promotions and appointments across its global offices, including three new partners, a CFO and a head of talent.
Hg has announced promotions to partner for Chris Fielding in London, Hector Guinness in New York, and Benedikt Joeris in Munich.
Fielding joined Hg last year as a director and will focus on the Mercury fund investment opportunities, according to a press release. Prior to joining Hg, he was a partner at CGE Partners, according to LinkedIn.
Guinness joined Hg more than 10 years ago as an associate and holds board positions for various portfolio companies. He started his career as an analyst at Oxford Capital Partners and was previously a consultant at Bain & Company, according to LinkedIn.
Joeris also joined the firm more than 10 years ago as an associate and is a board member of several portfolio companies. Previously he was in the investment banking team at Merill Lynch, according to LinkedIn.
In addition to the promotions, Philip Marshall has joined Hg as Group CFO. Prior to joining Hg, he was a CFO and a board member at internet security business Avast, according to a press release.
Kerry Heaton joins the firm from HSBC in a newly created role as head of talent. At HSBC, Heaton was he global head of executive talent after spending 15 years at the company. Her focus will be on strengthening Hg’s recruitment process and leading the firm’s D&I initiatives, according to a press release.
The recent promotions and appointments follow Hg’s hiring of Alexandre Flavier as a partner in December 2021.His focus is on software and tech-enabled services investments across France. He has 12 years of experience investing in technology and financial services at Goldman Sachs, according to a press release.
Hg is currently investing from funds including Hg Capital Mercury 3, which closed on EUR 1.3bn in October 2020. The vehicle targets small-cap companies with enterprise values between GBP 50m-250m, according to Unquote Data.
Hg’s latest vehicle, Hg Genesis 10, was registered in October 2021 with a target of EUR 5bn, according to Unquote Data.
