Impetus-PEF triathlon: only one month to go
Blackstone, CVC, KKR, TPG, Warburg Pincus and LivingBridge are among the many private equity firms that have entered teams to compete in the Impetus-PEF Private Equity Triathlon on September 12.
Marc Boughton, managing partner at CVC and chair of the Impetus-PEF Private Equity Triathlon, encourages more industry participants to get involved: "Many firms associated with the private equity industry have entered teams into the Impetus-PEF Private Equity Triathlon 2015, ensuring it will be a competitive and fun day out for all those involved. However, with only one month to go, I would urge firms or individual competitors who are interested in competing to take the plunge and sign up now to guarantee their place. Register today by visiting the website and help us transform the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK."
The event comprises a series of different races to cater for individual athletes or corporate teams of varying abilities. There will be a group sprint individual triathlon consisting of a 750m swim, 21.2km bike ride and 5km run. Athletes can also take part in a relay sprint triathlon over the same distance, with one team member completing a single triathlon discipline each.
For keener athletes, who can complete a sprint triathlon in under 1 hour 30 minutes, there is the opportunity to compete in the CVC Advanced Sprint Triathlon. Less experienced athletes can choose to compete in the Impetus-PEF Board of Trustee's SuperSprint Triathlon which is a 400m swim, 10.6km bike ride and 2.5km run. Wetsuit and bike hire are available on the day.
Children aged between ages 9-16 can take part in the children's Duathlon, a 1km run, 3km bike ride and 1km run, and there is a Scootathlon for children aged 4-8 years old: 390m Scoot, 390m bike ride, 250m run. There will also be a bouncy castle, face-painting and a barbecue.
Julie Grant, acting CEO of Impetus-PEF, said: "With so many leading private equity and associated industry companies signed up to compete at this year's Impetus-PEF Private Equity Triathlon, the event looks set to eclipse the success of the inaugural Triathlon last year, which raised £146,000.
"With nearly one million young people not in employment, education or training in the UK, much work remains to be done to improve the life chances of these young people. With just one month to go until the Triathlon, please register today and help raise money for young disadvantaged people in the UK."
Boughton spoke to unquote" recently about how the triathlon event came about, and the importance of venture philanthropy. Read the article here.
