Electra buys debt portfolio for £30m
Electra Partners has acquired a portfolio of mezzanine debt and second lien debt in five UK and European companies for £30m.
The debt portfolio has been sold by a UK bank with a significant discount. The GP expects the purchase discount will combine with a healthy yield to deliver returns comparable to that seen on equity investments.
The portfolio includes debt positions in five European and UK-based companies, all due to mature within the next three years.
The largest holding is in UK caravan parks operator Parks Resorts. Electra initially became a shareholder in the firm in January 2012, when it acquired Lloyds Banking Group's debt stake for £45.5m, before buying a stake from RBS in July the same year.
