AUSTRIA - Blackstone to target Telekom Austria

According to press reports the Blackstone Group is in discussions with the Austrian government over a possible participation in Telekom Austria. Reports from investment bankers at UBS Bank also confirm that financial investors are likely to consider the company as a potential bid.

According to UBS the telecoms provider is a viable outright takeover target. UBS has recommended to investors that they acquire credit default swaps in the company due to the likelihood of an LBO widening their spread.
