Cognita, an independent schools group backed by Englefield Capital, has made its eighth acquisition in 12 months. Essex-based Oakfields Montessori School has joined the Cognita fold bringing the number of pre-prep, prep and senior schools in Cognita's portfolio to 39. Englefield acquired 17 schools in a £57m buyout deal from Lyceum Capital (then known as West Private Equity) in 2004 to form Cognita.
