SPAIN - SRP invests EUR 3.4m in solar energy player
Government-backed agency Sociedad Regional de Promoción del Principado de Asturias (SRP) has led a funding round of EUR 3.4m for Rioglass Solar.
Upon completion of the deal, it is understood that SRP will hold a 49% stake in the business, while industrial players Abengoa (which has recently purchased aluminium producer Alcasa from Ibersuizas) and Rioglass will own a 51% shareholding. The capital will be put towards the construction of a production plant, which will manufacture parabolic dishes used in thermosolar energy production units. It is expected that the factory, which expects to generate 80 jobs, will be fully operative from Q4 2007.
