UK - PUK Ventures et al. invest £1.1m into Monica Healthcare
PUK Ventures has invested ТЃ750,000 as part of a funding round totalling just over ТЃ1m for Monica Healthcare Limited, alongside Catapult Venture Managers, University of Nottingham and private investors.
Catapult first supported the business in 2005 with a £250,000 seed investment.
Monica is a spin out company from the University of Nottingham, which develops miniature, wireless technology that can monitor the well-being of a mother and her unborn baby for extended periods of time. The non-invasive technology allows the mother to move around as normal. The device is available throughout Europe, the Gulf states and Australia. The company is based in Nottingham's BioCity and was founded in 2004.
The new funding will be used to expand the company's activities in the US and other international markets.
