UK - Sovereign's Kinetics completes sixth acquistion

Leicester-based Thorpete was founded in 1995 by East Midlands social enterprise Trees Group, with the intention of providing jobs for young residents in deprived areas. The company now services over 10,000 properties on behalf of local authorities, private landlords and housing associations, delivering safety inspections, boiler and appliance servicing and gas installations.

Kinetics Group was formed as the acquisition vehicle for the £16m management buyout of social housing maintenance service company DC Group Ltd in December 2006. The group, headquartered in London, originally consisted of two subsidiaries, Seaflame and Camerons, but has since expanded through several add-on acquisitions.

Kinetics group now reports turnover of £100m a year, up from £32m at the time of the initial platform acquisition, and employs 1,200 staff, up from 340.
