
GERMANY - AFINUM exits portfolio to AVIDA
Deutsche unquote" can exclusively report that AFINUM Management has sold a portfolio of four mid-cap companies to AVIDA Group, Düsseldorf, for an undisclosed amount. The sale means a full exit of AFINUM’s portfolio companies Holmer Maschinenbau GmbH, Bettmer Werbemittelversand GmbH, ARWE Group and SCHAETTI Group. The transaction was led, structured and arranged on behalf of AVIDA by Clemens von Berger, Peter Folle, Dr Anthony Bunker and Nicolas Rädecke. Dr Thomas Bühler, Dr Gernot Eisinger, Dr Jochen Klemmer, Berthold Schmidt-Förger and Dr Philipp Schülin represented AFINUM.
Eggmühl/Schierling-based Holmer Maschinenbau GmbH is a manufacturer of self-propelled sugar beet harvesters. It was bought by AFINUM from its founder. AFINUM solved the management succession issue and successfully followed, together with the new management, a comprehensive internationalisation- and growth strategy. Holmer has some 350 staff and recorded sales of EUR 100m in 2006.
Bettmer Werbemittelversand GmbH is a mail order company specialised in the sale of individualised promotional items. With the support of AFINUM new regional markets were developed. Located in Mainz-Kastel, Bettmer reported revenues of EUR 16m in 2006 and employs a workforce of 45.
ARWE SERVICE GmbH is an outsourcing partner for car rental agencies, automotive OEMs and major car dealers in Germany, focusing on services in the areas of car care and specialised detailing services. Headquartered in Augsburg, ARWE SERVICE reported revenues of EUR 50m in 2006 with staff (including temporary workers) of approximately 1,600.
SCHAETTI Group is a specialty chemicals service company focussing on coating technologies to bond textiles and other substrates. Thermoplastic powders are produced by grinding and mixing plastics materials such as polyamide, polyester, polyurethane etc. This technology is implemented in many industries such as garments, automotive, shoes, hygiene and cosmetics, among others. Headquartered in Wallisellen near Zurich, SCHAETTI generated sales in 2006 of CHF 42m with about 50 employees in Europe and China.
