NETHERLANDS - Steadfast-backed MPS acquires Butina A/S
Steadfast Capital-backed Meat Processing Systems (MPS) has acquired a majority stake in Butina A/S.
Butina was founded in 1972 in Copenhagen, and relocated to Holbæk in 1981. It specialises in the development, design and production of CO2-Stunning Systems and Automatic Driveway Systems for handling for porcine meat production. Swedish-Danish company Anitec was established in 1980 in Malmö; and designs the facilities and plants for the hygienic collection of blood from slaughtered pigs and cattle.
Based in Linctenvoorde, MPS develops and installs high-tech slaughtering systems as well as systems for the portioning, de-boning and logistic processing of meat products. Steadfast acquired the company in 2004 in a secondary buyout that saw Penguin Ventures divest its stake in the company.
