GERMANY/US - BPE's Eschenbach acquires Tura
Barclays Private Equity-backed eyewear manufacturer Eschenbach Group has acquired American eyewear company Tura.
This acquisition increases Eschenbach's footprint in North America.
Barclays Private Equity acquired Eschenbach Group in 2007, later acquiring UK-based International Eyewear in 2008.
Tura was founded in 1938 in New York City. The company distributes the brands Tura and Turaflex as well as licensed brands such as Ted Baker, Lulu Guinness, Tourneau und Goldfinch.
After this acquisition, Nuremberg-based Eschenbach Group expects to report a turnover in 2010 of just under EUR 140m. The company was founded in 1913 and has the three divisions eyewear, optics and technical optics. The company has around 500 employees, 350 of which work in Germany.
