Kreos Capital leads round for GetTaxi
European GP Kreos Capital has led a $12m series-C funding round for GetTaxi, an enterprise and consumer taxi app, as the company launches its first US office.
The company is launching a fleet of black cabs for its new New York base called G-Cars, designed to fill the gap left by the capped supply of New York City's yellow taxi cabs.
Kreos was joined in the $12m funding round by private investor and Ukrainian-born US businessman Len Blavatnik, according to the GP's website. Blavatnik is the founder of industrial group Access Industries, which has invested in Russian oil company TNK, now TNK-BP, and Warner Music Group, as well as Basell Polyolefins and Lynondell Chemical Company, which were then merged to create LyondellBasell.
Kreos has offices in London, Israel and Sweden. The firm typically invests €1-15m per transaction and also provides debt to companies.
GetTaxi, which also has offices in Tel-Aviv, Moscow and London, employs 150 staff and was founded in Israel in 2010. Shahar Waiser is the company's founder and CEO.
