NETHERLANDS - Waterland invests EUR 36m into BioMCN
Private equity firm Waterland has co-invested EUR 36m into alternative fuel manufacturer BioMCN as part of a co-investment in the business with sustainable energy company Econcern.
Delfzijl-based BioMCN, which was founded in November 2006, produces and sells biomethanol from renewable resources using glycerine. It has a processing facility with a capacity for 200,000 metric tonnes of biomethanol per year.
The capital injection will allow the company to invest in the construction of further processing units. The company wishes to double its production by 2010.
Earlier this week Waterland closed another investmentin the renewable energy sector; the EUR 50m backing of renewable energy developer Enfinity.
Econcern acted on behalf of NOM and Teijin. The company is backed by Rabo Ventures which, alongside Delta Lloyd and SHV, invested EUR 300m into the business in May 2008.
