FRANCE - Motorola Ventures invests in IP over broadcast media provider

Motorola Ventures has injected EUR 2m for a third round of funding in UDcast. The investor joins existing shareholders CDC Entreprises Innovation, SGAM AI PE, I-Source, Baytech Venture and Mitsubishi Venture which collectively provided EUR 8.8m in two financing rounds completed in 2000 and 2002.

UDcast is a leading provider of IP over broadcast media, focusing on IPTV to the mobile DVB-H solutions as well as satellite-aware enterprise networking solutions. Based in Sophia-Antipolis and founded in 2000, UDcast has designed and developed the IPE-10, the first IP encapsulator for DVB-H broadcast networks. In 2005, UDcast took a step ahead of its competitors by developing and releasing its IPE-Manager, a DVB-H network management system which facilitates the roll out of such networks and implementation of its services. The company achieved a EUR 2.8m turnover in 2005 and it currently has a staff of 35. Already a leading provider of IP over broadcast media, the company will use Motorola’s investment to accelerate its R&D and complement its DVB-H network infrastructure offering.
