UK - Ingenious Media invests £3m to enable Digital Rights Group to make acquisition
Ingenious Media Active Capital Limited has invested £3m in The Digital Rights Group Ltd (DRG) in order to enable it to acquire Portman Film and Television Ltd, a UK drama distributor.
DRG was formed to create an independent TV rights distribution group and will provide TV producers with international distribution for their rights and programmes independently of the major broadcasters or other TV producer owned distributors. It will acquire finished programmes as well as formats and will operate across multi-genres. DRG is expected to grow both organically and through acquisitions. Its first acquisition, that of Portman was agreed on 1 December 2006 with completion scheduled to take place in early January 2007.
