UK - DFJ Esprit-backed PacketExchange acquires Mzima
DFJ Esprit- and Bank of Scotland Growth Equity-backed PacketExchange, the internet exchange services provider, has acquired network services provider Mzima Networks for an undisclosed sum.
Both companies' customer base and operations will be merged.
London-based PacketExchange provides global Ethernet private line services, MPLS and VPLS networking and peering services. The combined entity will offer global IP and WAN network and services to over 500 customers, with a presence in over 100 countries worldwide.
In 2004, Bank of Scotland invested £3m in exchange for a minority stake in the company, followed by a £3m investment by DFJ Esprit in 2005. In 2008, the two investors together invested $12m into the business for a majority stake in PacketExchange.
