IRELAND - Celtic House leads $5.6m RedMere funding
Canadian investor Celtic House Venture Partners has led a series-B funding round for fabless semiconductor company RedMere valued at $5.6m.
Dublin-based RedMere provides chip and cable technology solutions for a new generation of compact lightweight cables, which are used for synchronisation, imaging, home theatre, gaming and enterprise networking applications. The cable systems deliver compact digital connectivity over HDMI, DisplayPort and USB for video, as well as smartphones, HDTV, Blue-Ray DVD, PS3 and Xbox.
The company also provides cable-embedded semiconductors and advanced cable reference designs to cable industry companies and manufacturing partners.
The new funding will be used to strengthen RedMere's working capital position in support of strong demand for its EyeWire active cable chipset for use in HDMI cables. The capital is also expected to broaden its product lines and operations worldwide.
EdgeStone Capital Partners and Enterprise Equity also participated in the round.
