Investcorp's Tyrrells bolts on Aroma Snacks
Investcorp portfolio company Tyrrells Potato Crisps has bolted on German business Aroma Snacks.
The deal marks the second international acquisition for the crisps and snacks producer, which also bought Yarra Valley Snack Foods in August 2015.
The bolt-on of Aroma Snacks and its manufacturing facilities will provide a platform from which Tyrrells can expand across mainland Europe. The company said Germany is now its primary European market.
Investcorp acquired Tyrrells from Langholm Capital for £100m in August 2013. At the time of the original buyout, Tyrrells employed 270 staff and generated £100m in retail sales. The company says its revenues have grown by 30% year-on-year since 2013.
Company
Headquartered in Amtzell, Aroma Snacks is a producer of organic crisps. The company manufactures its products under the Lisa's Hand-Cooked Chips brand.
Tyrrells was founded in 2002 and produces hand-cooked potato and vegetable crisps, as well as snacks such as popcorn and tortilla chips. It is based in Leominster, Herefordshire and exports its products to 37 countries.
