Taylor Wessing merges with Deterink
Legal firm Taylor Wessing has announced a merger with Dutch peer Deterink, a move that will see the consultancy run operations in the Dutch market for the first time.
Founded in 2010, Deterink is a Dutch legal consultancy specialising in corporate, M&A, IT, data protection and employment services.
Following the merger, its operations in the Netherlands will be absorbed by Taylor Wessing, which will incorporate the former's existing 54 lawyers and its offices in Amsterdam and Eindhoven.
Further growth is expected for both locations as the need for Netherlands-focused legal advice increases among Taylor Wessing's Asian and American clients – 34 of the top 50 on its roster are active in the European country.
Taylor Wessing's association with Deterink will provide it with an entry point into the Dutch market. According to unquote" data, the firm has since foundation focused heavily on its traditional core areas in the UK and Germany, currently representing a respective 80% and 15% of its European operations.
France, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark generate less than 2% of the firm's business on the continent, according to unquote" records.
