KBC and Defiac enlightened
KBC Private Equity and Defiac have acquired wholly Dark, a Belgian lighting manufacturer, from two Belgian shareholders. The acquisition was financed through a holding, 2BDelighted, set up by the two funds to build a group in the lighting industry. This buyout takes place five months after the holding bought 50% of Wever & Ducre, another Belgian company operating in the same sector as Dark. 2BDelighted is currently looking for further acquisition in the sector. Dark and Wever & Ducre are specialised in architectural and decorative lighting, but the holding consider other areas of the diversified lighting industry.
While KBC holds a majority stake in 2BDelighted, Defiac has a significant minority. (See page 19.)
