The mid-market divide
The Benelux lower mid-market was clearly a market of two halves in 2008, with larger deals unsurprisingly falling off more dramatically than smaller ones.
According to unquote" database Private Equity Insight, activity of deals valued between EUR5-50m has decreased from 2006 figures, but the differences between 2007 and 2008 are not major. Volume was static and value decreased by just 7%.
The same cannot be said for deals in the EUR50-150m bracket, where activity has decreased by a whopping 42% from 2007 to 2008 in both volume and value.
Inspite of this drop however, 2008 figures managed to stay above 2006, albeit just slightly.
