Alfi to acquire Baby Center and Pikapoka
Alfi PE Fund is considering acquiring majority stakes in baby care networks Baby Center and Pikapoka.
The planned transaction is scheduled for completion in the second half of this year, once due diligence has concluded and the GP obtains regulatory approval, Invest Slovenia reported.
Alfi PE is the private equity arm of asset management firm Alfi, which was established in 2019 with €50m investments each from the state-owned SID Banka and the European Investment Fund, according to Invest Slovenia.
The firm has completed two investments to date. The vehicle is focusing on investing in SMEs based or doing business predominantly in Slovenia and Croatia.
Slovenia-based Baby Center and Pikapoka are retail chains that sell baby and child products, from diapers and strollers to toys and clothes. Baby Center operates stores in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia, and Pikapoka manages the retail chains in Slovenia and Croatia, and owns toy wholesaler Apollo.
In 2018, Baby Center generated net profit of €1m on sales worth €28.7m. That same year, Pikapoka posted net profit of €175,000 on sales of €16m, Invest Slovenia noted.
