
Dragon Capital buys Ukraine's Radio-Era TRC
Dragon Capital has acquired Ukrainian radio station Radio-Era TRC via its private equity arm.
Following the deal, the company will receive an additional capital increase to support its technical modernisation, according to a statement.
The GP already owns Novoye Vremya, a Ukrainian weekly news magazine and internet portal. Following the transaction, Novoye editor-in-chief Vitaliy Sych will oversee the GP's media portfolio, while Valery Kalnysh, formerly head of newspaper Kommersant, Vesti Radio, and RBC-Ukraine internet portal, will take the leading role within Radio-Era.
Dragon Capital, Ukraine's largest investment bank, currently manages Europe Virgin Fund, a €75m buyout vehicle. The fund invests in businesses based in Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus, focusing on sectors including fast-moving consumer goods, industrials, communications, pharmaceuticals, media and technology.
