
Almaz leads $6m round for Nival
Almaz Capital has led a $6m series-A funding round for Nival, a Russian game developer, alongside the company’s previous investors.
Almaz is the first venture capital firm to enter Nival's shareholding. The company previously received funding from its founder and CEO, Sergey Orlovskiy, who holds a majority stake, as well as trade players 1C, a Russian software company, and Russia's Mail.ru group.
The capital will be used to expand the company internationally and will finance global launches of new products.

Founded in 1996, Nival is headquartered in Moscow with additional offices in St Petersburg, Kiev in Ukraine, Minsk in Belarus and Hallandale in Florida, US. The company employs 200 staff.
Nival develops cross-platform strategy and role-playing games. Its portfolio includes World War II tactics computer game Blitzkrieg and fantasy strategy game Etherlords. The company is currently working on two new games, Prime World and Prime World: Defenders.

Sergey Orlovskiy is the founder and CEO of Nival. Almaz partner Pavel Bogdanov will join the company's board of directors.
