KWM partner Hill joins McDermott in Frankfurt
US law firm McDermott Will & Emery has appointed Markus Hill as a partner in its US & International Tax Practice Group based in Frankfurt.
Hill joins McDermott from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in the wake of the recently begun administration process in KWM's EMEA practice. During his career at KWM, he worked as a partner at the firm’s Frankfurt office focusing on buyouts and tax-efficient structuring.
Originally, Hill joined the law firm SJ Berwin – later acquired by KWM in November 2013 – as a partner in 2002. Subsequently, he left the business to run his own tax boutique and rejoined the UK firm in 2011.
During his career at KWM, Hill worked on several transaction, including Star Capital Partners' acquisition of Stuttgart-based IT services and infrastructure business Globalways and Blue Point Capital Partners-backed The Hilsinger Company on the acquisition of Breitfeld & Schlieckert and Lexxoo International from EyeConomics Investments in August 2015.
Earlier this month, KWM saw law firm Goodwin Procter recruit 26 members of its London-based investment funds team, including six partners. Prior to that, SJ Berwin founding partner Jonathan Blake joined O’Melveny & Meyers. Moreover, partners Gabriel Boghossian, Warren Allan and Jonathan Pittal joined Stephenson Harwood.
