Dechert opens in Frankfurt; poaches Mayer Brown partner
Private equity specialist Dr. Benedikt Weiser will join Dechert next month from Mayer Brown, where he was head of the firm’s German Private Investment Funds group.
He joined Mayer Brown in 2008 from Linklaters to focus on fund structuring. Weiser specialises in advising both investors and fund sponsors on the structuring and formation of investment funds, including private equity, real estate, infrastructure, mezzanine and hedge funds.
The Frankfurt office will be headed by Achim Pütz, who joined the firm in 2010. A senior figure in the German alternative investment industry, Pütz is the founder and chairman of the German Alternative Investment Association. Pütz and Weiser will be joined by Dr. Carsten Fischer, who was previously a partner and a leader of the regulatory team at WTS Group. He has extensive experience in regulated and non-regulated funds, including UCITS, real estate funds, private equity funds and hedge funds.
Dechert CEO Daniel O'Donnell said in a statement: "Further recruitment in the financial services and corporate area is expected shortly."
