Partners Group elects Peter Wuffli as chairman

Swiss private markets investment management firm Partners Group has elected independent board member Peter Wuffli as its new chairman.
This marks the first time the chairman role has not been held by one of Partners Group's founders.
Wuffli takes over from co-founder Alfred Gantner, who will remain a board member and chair Partners Group's Global Investment Committee. This promotion is planned to allow Partners Group to take the next step in its institutionalisation while reducing founder-dependence at board level.
Gantner was succeeded as CEO in 2005 by Steffen Meister and gave up his controlling majority stake following the 2006 flotation along with co-founders Marcel Erni and Urs Wietlisbach. All three have no plans to reduce their current joint 30% stake.
Wuffli was previously group CEO of the Union Bank of Switzerland in the lead-up to the financial crisis, having worked there since 1994 in various roles. He joined Partners Group in April 2009 as director and chairman of the risk and audit committee and is the treasurer of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce in Zurich.
Partners Group closed its €1.5bn direct investment programme last month and deployed $7.7bn across 86 direct investments last year. The firm's 2013 turnover stood at CHF 492m.
