McKinsey appoints Cornelius Baur as head of DA region

Advisory firm McKinsey has promoted senior partner Cornelius Baur to head of German and Austrian operations from January 2014.
Baur will take over from Frank Mattern, who was promoted to head of global functional practices and has been managing McKinsey's German and Austrian offices since 2007. Baur will oversee McKinsey offices in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich, Stuttgart and Vienna.
As a senior partner, he is based in the firm's Munich office, overseeing McKinsey's pan-European operations practice, which focuses on improving companies' industrial processes. He was appointed partner in 1996 and senior adviser in 2002. Baur has also been named member of McKinsey's shareholder council this year.
Baur has been working for McKinsey for 23 years, with a focus on advising clients in the industrial sector. He advises on industrial manufacturing and product development as well as sectors such as automotive, high-tech and aerospace.
Baur joined McKinsey in 1990 after finishing his apprenticeship at Siemens.
