Mixed result for European buyout activity
The changing credit market environment in the second half of 2007 has had a dramatic impact on buyout values in the European markets. As unquote's proprietary database Private Equity Insight reveals, the total value of European buyouts amounted to around EUR23.2bn for the last quarter of last year - the lowest value for a quarter since 2004. On the other hand, deal activity remained strong in the region with three consecutive quarters each recording more than 170 buyouts.
For a fully validated and comprehensive in-depth analysis of the European buyout environment look out for unquote's European Buyout Review to be published in March this year in association with Bridgepoint. Now in its 19th edition this is the essential guide to Europe's buyout markets, detailing sources of buyouts with volume and value breakdowns by country, vendor type and sector.
