
Blackstone to raise infrastructure fund
According to press reports, the Blackstone Group is set to launch an infrastructure fund ranging between dollars 2-5bn in size. The fund was launched in mid-2008 with the firm hiring Trent Vichie and Michael Dorrell from Macquarie Capital in New York as founding partners of Blackstone Infrastructure Partners.
Other private equity giants raising infrastructure funds include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, currently raising its first infrastructure fund targeting roughly dollars 4bn, and Macquarie, which is believed to be raising two funds - Macquarie Infrastructure Partners II (dollars 6bn) and Macquarie European Infrastructure Partners III (EUR5bn).
