Arques Industries closes trio of electronics deals
Arques Industries AG has revved up its acquisition activity with three electronics deals closed before the end of 2007.
First, Arques has acquired IT distributor Actebis, based in Soest, from Otto Group, for EUR110m equity value. Actebis' German, French, Austrian, and Dutch subsidiaries reported a turnover of around EUR2.5bn with a staff of 1,300. Half of the acquisition is financed with own capital, with the other half coming from foreign capital. Actebis is the third-largest IT distributor in central Europe and sells products in information technology, mobility, and consumer electronics sectors. This marked the largest acquisition in the history of Arques.
Arques has also acquired NT plus AG, a major telecommunications distributor from United Internet AG and Neue Medien Ulm Holding GmbH, which are now focusing on their core business, as well as from three minor stakeholders. NT plus AG is based in Osnabruck and reported a turnover of EUR450m in 2006. NT plus AG is to be merged with the Actebis group, which Arques Industries plans to float in 2008.
The third deal also focused on the electronics sector. Arques bought consumer electronics company SM Electronic from French Thompson Group. SM Electronic is based in Stapelfeld near Hamburg. The company reported a turnover of EUR60m in 2006 and employs a staff of 20.
