BVK and private equity launch scientific research database
German private equity association Bundesverband Deutscher Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaften (BVK) and large international private equity firms have opened a company database for scientific research. The database compiles detailed company data for portfolio companies that can be used by scientific institutions free of charge.
The database forms part of a transparency initiative launched by the large buyout committee and supplements the transparency guidelines launched in October 2008. The members of the large buyout committee have pledged to make all Germany-related transaction data available post-1997.
Firms taking part in the large buyout committee are: Advent International, Allianz Capital Partners, Apax Partners, Bain Capital, BC Partners, The Blackstone Group, Carlyle Group, Cinven, CVC Capital Partners, KKR Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, Permira and TPG Capital.
