Digital+ Partners backs Orderbird's €20m series-C
Digital+ Partners has led a €20m series-C for Orderbird, a German developer of iPad-based point-of-sale systems.
Digital+ and self-service wholesaler Metro Group together invested €16.5m as part of the round. Payment provider Concardis also participated in the round via a secondary listing.
For the months ahead, Orderbird aims to continue its product development and targets expansion throughout Europe, with a rollout in the French market this year.
Metro stated the partnership will see Orderbird collaborate with Metro Cash & Carry, which it claims is present in 25 countries.
Previous funding
In April 2012, Alternative Strategic Investment (Alstin) and other investors structured a €2.7m round of early-stage funding for the business.
In October 2014, Alstin and Concardis structured a $10m round of growth capital funding for Orderbird.
Company
Founded in 2011 and based in Berlin, Orderbird develops digital point-of-sale (POS) systems for the hospitality industry. Its feature set includes mobile ordering, real-time data analysis, cashless payment acceptance and accounting-ready reporting. The business claims that more than €1bn in sales are booked annually via 9,500 Orderbird POS systems. The startup has 200 employees.
