General Atlantic, ProSiebenSat.1 back KäuferPortal
General Atlantic and ProSiebenSat.1 Group have acquired German online product comparison website KäuferPortal.
Each investor bought a 42% stake. The remaining 16% will be held by the company's founders Robin Behlau and Mario Kohle, who will also continue in their current roles as CEO and chairperson respectively.
KäuferPortal plans to capitalise on increasing online search for local offline products and services, which it claims is still in its earlier stages. The startup hopes to expand its vendor network in home improvement and financial services, and to increase advertising efforts.
For ProSiebenSat.1, it is the second investment in an online comparison platform, after Verivox, which the business acquired from Oakley Capitaa in June 2015.
Previous funding
KäuferPortal previously raised €3m from investors including Team Europe, Nordwest-Zeitung Verlagsgesellschaft and Family's Venture Capital.
Company
Founded in 2008 and based in Berlin, KäuferPortal aims to help consumers obtain and compare offers from regional companies.
The company claims it received 1.2 million customer requests in the last 12 months. It has 350 employees. KäuferPortal reported a turnover of €20m in 2014.
