
Picus Capital and IBB in €2m seed round for Getsurance
VC firms Picus Capital and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft have invested in a €2m seed funding round for Berlin-based insurance-related technology company Getsurance.
The new funding will be used to bring the company's digital disability insurance product to market, which it estimates will service 20 million under-insured people.
Swiss bank Postfinance also took part in the round.
Previous funding
In May 2016, Michael Franke and Katrin Bornberg, founders of Franke & Bornberg rating agency, provided €500,000 of angel funding to Getsurance.
Company
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Berlin, Getsurance develops software to digitalise income protection and disability insurance. It is the first insurtech business in Germany focusing on this area and won a pitch competition at the Exec 2017 fintech conference. The company currently employs 14 people.
