
Oaktree acquires Vitanas and Pflegen & Wohnen
Oaktree Capital Management has acquired majority stakes in German elderly care home operators Vitanas and Pflegen & Wohnen.
Prior to the deal, Vitanas was owned by the Burkart family, while Pflegen & Wohnen was equally owned by Vitanas and investment firm Andreas Franke Unternehmensgruppe.
Under its new owners, the business will look to invest in the further expansion of its care homes. Since 2016, Vitanas has modernised and expanded 17 facilities to provide an additional 2,200 care beds and introduced ambulatory care at three of its locations.

Vitanas and Pflegen & Wohnen are nursing home operators focusing on elderly and mental health care. The businesses have a combined total of 8,300 care beds across 40 locations.
Vitanas was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Berlin. It operates from 12 locations and has a headcount of 4,400. Pflegen & Wohnen is headquartered in Hamburg and has roots dating back to 1619. It has a headcount of 1,800 across 13 locations.
According to Vitanas's website, the combined group generates a turnover of around €335m.
