
Battery Ventures leads $75m series-D for Getyourguide
Battery Ventures has led a $75m series-D funding round for Berlin-based travel booking platform Getyourguide.
Existing investors also took part in the round, including KKR, Spark Capital, Highland Europe, Sunstone Capital and Nokia Growth Partners.
The fresh capital will be used to fund international expansion as well as technological development. The business currently employs 400 people in 11 countries.
Getyourguide stated it had recently reached 10 million ticket bookings, almost half of which were made in 2017. The company predicts the global travel booking market to reach $183bn by 2020.
The funding round is in the top 10 largest ever raised by Berlin-based startups, behind rounds for Rocket-Internet-backed companies Delivery Hero and Hellofresh among others.
Battery Ventures general partner Itzik Parnafes will join the Getyourguide board of directors.

Getyourguide has now raised $175.5m over six rounds, according to unquote" data.
Profounders Capital was among the first institutional backers of the company in March 2012, when it provided the company with a $2m seed round in exchange for a minority stake.
Highland came in 10 months later, leading a $14m series-A round alongside Spark. The round was extended a year later in January 2014 with support from Sunstone Capital and angel investors.
Highland and Spark returned in August 2014 with a $25m series-B, before KKR led a $50m series-C in November 2015 with participation from all previous investors, as well as Nokia Growth Partners.

GetYourGuide in an online booking platform for travel activities such as tours, museums and events. The company was launched in 2010 and is headquartered in Berlin, with additional offices in 10 other countries. It has 400 employees and reported bookings growth of 38% for 2017.
