HTGF backs seed round for Unity Robotics
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) has invested in a seven-digit seed funding round for Waldenbuch-based robotics company Unity Robotics.
Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Staufen.Digital Invest, Haas Equity and Stokar Mach3 also took part in the financing.
Until the seed round, the company had been operating within Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, an international research institute.
The fresh capital will be used to begin production of the robot assistant Care-O-Bot 4, as well as expanding its application into additional fields such as the retail industry.
Company
Unity Robotics was spun out of the Fraunhofer research institute in 2017. It develops robots for information and assistance purposes. The Care-O-Bot 4 is its first operational model that will be used in retail to advise customers on their purchases. The founders of the company predict the robot will be used in hospitals, care homes, airports, hotels and museums in the future.
