Waterland sells Premium Group to Blackstone's Clarion
Waterland Private Equity has sold its stake in German fashion event organiser Premium Group to Blackstone-backed Clarion Events.
The sale ends a three-year holding period for Waterland, which acquired Premium Exhibitions in January 2015. Later that year, Waterland supported the bolt-on of the Bright trade show, and in October 2016 it took over the Show & Order brand.
Blackstone acquired London-based Clarion from Providence Equity Partners in July 2017 for an enterprise value of around £600m.
Founded in 1947, the Clarion group now has 950 employees across 13 offices and delivers 180 events and exhibitions in roughly 50 countries. The sectors it covers include retail & home, gaming, defence and security, technology and energy.
Company
Founded in 2002, Premium is focused on the organisation and execution of trade fairs, conferences and events in and around the fashion sector. The company currently runs 10 trade fairs and two conferences each year.
