Equistone-backed GalaKerzen buys Juwelkerze
Equistone Partners Europe portfolio company Gala Kerzen has acquired German candle manufacturer Juwelkerze.
It is the second candle manufacturer Equistone has acquired this year, after bolting on Ramesh Flowers to Gala Kerzen at the end of February 2018.
Gala Kerzen was acquired with equity from Equistone's fifth buyout fund. The GP announced the final closing of its sixth fund on its €2.8bn hard-cap on 12 March 2018.
Shearman and Stelling advised Equistone on the debt-financing of the acquisition.
Company
Juwelkerze is a Berlin-based online jewellery and candle shop. The company produces handmade scented candles with a piece of jewellery valued between €10-250 hidden inside. The company employed 20 people in 2016, according to publicly available documents.
