
Gimv buys Laser 2000
Belgium-based investor Gimv has acquired a majority stake in German laser and photonics manufacturer Laser 2000.
Gimv has acquired 75% of the business, while founder and managing director Armin Luft will retain a minority shareholding.
It is the first German investment Gimv has made since it expanded its presence in Munich, making a senior promotion and two new hires in March this year. In total, the GP has invested 13% of its capital into German companies since 2014.
Gimv will support the company with its national and international expansion plans, according to a statement.

Laser 2000 was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Weßling, Bavaria. The company makes lasers and light sources for the processing of materials, measurement equipment, fibre optics, 3D imaging, optical power, energy meters and cameras. It employs 65 people.
