
PE-backed Wemas acquires Gerding
Belgian GP Gimv and German buyout firm Paragon Partners will both provide fresh capital to support the acquisition of Gerding Verkehrstechnik for their joint portfolio company Wemas Absperrtechnik.
Paragon and Gimv each hold approximately half the shares in Wemas, while a small remainder is held by Wemas CEO Markus Schwinn.
The previous owner of Gerding, Thomas Gerding, will acquire shares in Wemas in the transaction.
Wemas said in a statement that it will gain new products, distribution channels and customers in new regions as a result of the acquisition. The company reported increased revenues of €39m for 2017, up from €34m in 2016.

Gerding is a provider of road safety equipment, headquartered in Senden, Germany. It generated turnover of less than €2m in 2017 and employed less than 20 people, according to a corporate information portal.
